I get what you are saying but it is flawed. The people you are preaching to are not here because these are usually kids who will never play again(with some exceptions of course). A better thing for you to do if you have to play with walk ons is avoid them. Don't try and tell them what to do because you know they won't do it. Try and make your front game better since their isn't any room in he back ever. And probably the easiest way to solve this problem is play with the better groups. Your game will improve DRASTICALLY.I was playing with "Advanced" on my thrid trip to the field. I got shot every game but my game improved alot more then playing with people who shoot with one hand and then scream when their Tipmann gets low on air and "OMG IT'S GOING AUTOMATIC!!!!!" lol. But ya that's just my 2 cents
O btw FIRST POST WOOOO |
I wasn't talking to those elephants we played with that day. I'm talking to anyone else who may be a prospective elephant and would like to AVOID being an elephant.
Also, at GatSplat, the Expert and Advanced groups are merged. I don't know about you, but at the skill level I currently hold, I am nowhere near ready to play with the Experts. Sure, learning is good and all, but no one wants to drop $30 to spend all day with ten seconds on the field, and the rest behind the net watching the game. Soon, sure, but not yet. Also, I think your "first post" is a bit outdated. XD Sorry buddy.
I will DEFINITELY go to OK08. I have NO IDEA how much it costs, but just hearing the words "D-Day re-enactment" had my eyes glazing. I've got quite a bit of money saved up, so if it starts soon, I'll continue to save it. And Rom, you're coming. Me and you are just going to Leroy all night.
To whoever asked which field we liked at GatSplat, I think I speak for my entire party when I say "FRONT FIELD DAMMIT!!" I really hated that back field. _________________ "How can a beginner afford that kind of gun?"

| I kno you weren't talking to those players it's just these so called "elephants" are not going to be on this forum and probably not even one like PBN until they get a little bit of experience and understand paintball a little more then their first time playing. more then likely by the time they read this they already know not to do that. Sorry if that wasn't originally clear. And also i havn't been to gatsplat so idk the skill level out their but when i was starting out i played at DFWAP and the "Advanced" group wasn't all that amazing so i was basing that off personal experience.

I was a Gatsplat two weeks ago and this guy and his girl bought (2) 08 Egos two halos two tanks and an Eclipse bag. I will admit that I enjoy Gatsplat a lot but they are mostly geared for parties and beginner groups. It was not fair that the two Ego players got to set their guns at ramp mode (15 per second)s while all the rental folks didn't stand a chance against that speed.
It is important to be an ambassidor of the sport as that's how the sport will continue to grow. I think it was like my 3rd time ever playing and came in with a Promaster and a New Eclipse Jersey and pants. They wouldn't let me get on the field with the beginners and I was forced to play intermediate/Advanced. Thinking back on it I think it was for the best becuase the intimidation factor went away after a couple rounds and it gave me confidence to play up versus down. Also, I met several cool people that gave me good advise.
I'm not sure if I was ever an elephant player as it's funny to see like 5 people at one bunker and seeing the buffet of hoppers decorating the edges.
My advise is, if you want to get better always play against others that are better then you. You will learn from your mistakes and other players will pass along good advise. Don't be afraid to ask questions and try not to have tunnel vision. That is being so fixated on one persont that your teamates need you but you can't hear them. It's best to also know what's coming around the corner. They have a great league on Thurs nights and they mix up the teams very well. so if you re serious about learning without getting mowed everytime that might be a good place to start.

At the course I play at on the start of the speedball(hyperball) games they ask everybody that has been playing for more than a year get on the field. I've only been playing a couple months but I go out there and usually one of the last 3 nocked out. Sometimes I get nailed in the first 15 seconds being stupid but it's alot better than being 6'3 200 trying to hide behind a culvert with 9 elephants to trip on when i break for cover. Not to mention the friendly fire ...
