A friend of mine owns a field in Wisconsin and has been a part of the paintball industry since about the time of its inception. There is some interesting information on the sport of paintball and where it may be headed. Whether you are new to the sport or have played for many years you should check it out:

I would like to hear your opinions as well.

Yeah, very good article. It's sad that capitalism is the basis of our economy. Everyone is out to make that extra dollar and most don't care what they do for that dollar and the reprecussions that follow their actions.
I am new to the sport, and I do love it, but I am in the mindset that I don't need the greatest marker on the market. I use a DM4 that I paid $250 for, it shoots fantastic, and thats all that matters right now for me. I am not a tourney player (yet...) so I just need something to work on basic skills.

| It is rarely about the marker. When I started I learned a lot about movement, angles, and reading the field while using a pump. For me at least it was never about shooting volumes of paint. I know paintball has changed a lot since I started and even more since I have been out for several years and trying to get back into it.
