Looking for a little advice. Just getting back into paintball after a few years (my last gun was a tracer) and looking to buy a gun. Looking for an electronic for under $200. Currently interested in a smart parts sp-1, as I consider myself more of a recball player. Thanks for the help.

I'd go with a Ion JUST BECAUSE you said under $200. If you can fork over another hundred you'd get a gun that is significantly better. For around $300, you can pick up a PMR (Proto Matrix Rail) or an Invert Mini. You can find a brand new Ion package (gun, barrel sock, N2 tank, etc) for right around $200 on Ebay. Ions aren't HORRIBLE guns, but you can definitely find better for only slightly more. Good Luck!

The SP-1 is a good solid gun, I have a friend that owns 2 (also has a mini). If you go for an Ion, get one of the new XE's they changed the bolt design a little and made it a little easier to clean. If you can stomach the money for a mini, check out the Eos by Smart Parts

If i were you i would definatly stray away from the sp-1. Basically an sp-1 is a mil-simmed vibe which in my opinion are just about useless. Granted, they are good entry level markers, but you can find much better for the same price.

As for a $200 gun, I would go with the SLG from Proto. I've shot an SLG before and its definatly the most solid entry level gun I've seen or shot. And at $199.95, its just in your price range.

And the ions, I would definatly stray away from those. I owned one befre my mini and hated every bit of it. They are very hard to maintain if you clean them after every day of playin and have a lot of peices IMO. Though they are good if you dnt like to clean seeing as they can go without lube forever.

The SP-1 is a very durable gun and great for beginners. It has absolutly no recoil what so ever, and you can drop it into a pool, pick it up, shoot about 3 dry fires, and put the hopper back in and your good to go.

I was actually just about to purchase the SP-1 myself but decided to fork over the extra $200 for the mini. If the accessories matter as well you might be looking at the ion intensely. But SmartParts is releasing a huge variety of upgrades for the SP-1 very soon.

Honestly this will sound rude but if you have to money go with the mini. The faster ball spead and the 1.99 lb. is truely fantastic.

If you have any questions I would call Xdreneline and ask to talk to Chad. He is very knowladgeble about the SP-1, the mini, the PMR, and the ion. He will not pressure you into a sale and I highly reccommend you call him and ask about the pros, and cons, of the different guns. From there just decide whatever gun is best for your situation.

you should try a Spyder vs3 or something if you want to spend $200, but hte ions aren't bad either. try to get an ion xe though its much better.

I have a shocker I'll sell you for $200, look in the markers section. You just have to turn it on and off with an allen wrench. Works like a dream though

Let me know if you're interested.

my advise is to grab an ION. If you can get another $140 later on, buy Virtueboard for it..

I own an ion and to tell you the truth it was a good gun, but i would never own another one. I would say look at an SLG if you want new or look for a mostly stock SFT Shocker if you don't mind used. If you can get another $200 or maybe a little less, get an ego5. Or for a about $250 you can sometimes find nice UL framed PM6's.

The only one i have shot out of those is the Ego5, i own one and love it, so don't take my opinions as professional. These are just based on observations and conversations i have made.
